Born and raised in Missouri City, Texas, Kevin first started his musical endeavors in the Fort Bend Boys Choir at the age of 9 and after taking private voice lessons for only a short amount of time, began taking piano lessons with local teachers around the Houston area.  Under the guidance of pianist Levi "Le" Stark, Kevin started participating in the NFSM (National Fraternity of Student Musicians) guild auditions held by The National Guild of Piano Teachers, which is a division of the American College of Musicians.

It wasn't until middle school that he unintentionally signed up for orchestra instead of band and found his life passion in the cello.  By high school, Kevin began studying privately with cellist, Ann Victor, and started participating in annual Region and All-State auditions, along with a variety of summer music festivals around central and east Texas.  He was also a member of the Houston Youth Symphony, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, and attended AFA (American Festival of the Arts) during the summer.

After graduating high school, Kevin attended the Sarofim School of Fine Arts at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where he studied cello with Hai Zheng-Olefsky and piano with Dr. Kiyoshi Tamagawa and David Utterback.  He was also given the privilege to take a few lessons with cellist, Paul Olefsky, who was a professor emeritus at the University of Texas in Austin.  During his time at Southwestern, Kevin routinely played with the Austin Civic Orchestra and composed short pieces for the Composers' Collective that met on campus regularly.

After completing his Bachelor of Music, Kevin headed to the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston to begin his Master's with Dr. David Tomatz and Vagram Saradjian and became active in the Houston Civic Symphony as well as the Moores School Symphony and Opera Orchestras.  Midway through his studies at U.H., Kevin was invited to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia to study with Darry Dolezal and the Esterhazy Quartet and participate as cellist of the Graduate String Quartet on full scholarship.  Kevin accepted the invitation and became a part of the Mizzou community by teaching in the Missouri String Project and coaching students in the Missouri Youth Orchestra, as well as performing and subbing in various orchestras around the Midwest.  He was the recipient of the Kathleen Kabrick Award for leadership qualities in teaching, the Dorothy Miller String Award for outstanding cello student, and the Leah Lou Emmons Orchestra Award for exceptional string instrument student in the University Philharmonic.

Upon completing his Master's at the MU School of Music, Kevin proceeded to the East Coast to complete his Artist Diploma under the direction of Nicholas Tzavaras and the Shanghai Quartet at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.  During his time at Montclair, he taught cello lessons to students of all ages in the John J. Cali Preparatory Center for the Arts and participated with the MSU Orchestra in two performances at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Since his return to Houston, Kevin is proud to be a member of the TMEA assisting cello students in obtaining the highest scores on Solo and Ensemble, prepare for the Region and All-State auditions that take place annually, and teach private piano lessons to all ages.  Kevin currently resides in the Conroe and The Woodlands area north of Houston and is active in the Conroe Symphony Orchestra while teaching students around Conroe ISD.  Prior to living in Conroe, Kevin taught in FBISD, which is where he first started his musical journey.  He plays on a 1995 Peter Shaw cello from the Amati Violin Shop located near Rice University.
